" The Lord created the Domestic Cat so man could pet the Tiger " I live in the USA and even though there are feral cats here, I have never seen a whole pack of them, only the occasional relatively tame stray. I had trouble relating to these people who are so concerned about the birds. I like birds and don't like to see an injured one, but God designed them to be cat-food. Cats outrank birds on the food chain, and I can't IMAGINE placing the value of a bird above the value of a cat. I imagine anyone who feels a bird has more value than a cat has never had a close relationship with a cat. It saddens me that there aren't more people concerned about the welfare of the feral cats. To me, the domestic cat is the most amazing and beautiful creature in God's creation. My Dad used to say that the Lord gave us domestic cats so we could pet the Tiger. One time I was staring at my cat sleeping and I was pondering what a sense of humour God has creating this strange creature who is so soft and silky and cuddly, yet is also the most lean and mean fighting machine on the planet. The Lord flashed into my mind that cats are a representation of Him and His character. He is a God of Love and at the same time a God of Justice and Vengeance. Only God would use a 10 lb pet to show us what He is like! Maybe this is what God means when He says in the Bible that men are without excuse because His attributes and eternal power are clearly evident and understood in His creation. Lauren Pettit I have a new member of the household who has established
occupancy on the back patio. Maybe 2 months or so old with a demeanour of a
forest creature. The beggar has been given its own food dish with just enough at
each session so that none is left over between feedings. I should mention that
the atmosphere is residential backyard...no dogs and a couple of other pet cats
on the premises. I've taken your advice and placed a piece of clothing near its
"bed" so as to help imprint my scent. I'm also attempting to build a
presence with the kitty through soft talk and no aggressive manner on brief
visits. Depending on how it goes for the next few weeks, the next step may be to
humanely "trap" the kitty in a animal friendly contrivance and try for
domestication based again on your advice. Warren Hello Peter, Stacey |
